Today, a member of a listserv I follow sent around a query about a CEO client of hers that wants to start blogging. She was a well-meaning professional, and she wanted advice on how to do it right.
AND….THE PR POLICE SIRENS WENT OFF. What business did her CEO have writing a blog in the first place? Could he be interesting or would it just be corporate junk? The internet has enough corporate CEOs blabbing away, but does anyone even trust them? Does he have anything new to add to the conversation? Many PR professionals chimed in on the topic, providing valuable articles to read.
Gulp. Today was actually the day that I was thinking about writing my own blog for my website, so I was following this thread on the listserv rather intensely.
Honestly, I have written several blog posts before for client blogs and previous work positions. Twice I tried to start my own blog about personal hobbies. Both resulted in one post, and it never amounted to anything. What makes me think I have what it takes this time? Is blogging the right medium for me?
The reason I came up with is that I want to connect to my visitors better. I base my business on listening and researching, not endlessly promoting. This is a conversation. So tell me what do you want to hear about? I will try to add a personal, unique, and knowledgeable comment.
Do I know what I am doing? I don’t think anyone really knows what they are doing, even the most proclaimed so-called experts. It is a trial and error process that is constantly adapting. Trust me, there are endless blogs out there about whether or not you should blog. I am learning with you and trying to take best practices into account. Bear with me as I embark on this experience.

Norwich have confirmed they have lodged an official complaint with the police after Sebastien Bassong was the target of alleged racist tweets.
"Not relevant which team they support. Don't accept racism from anyone and so these comments will be reported to the police."
McNally tweeted: "For those asking, we will be following up with the police regarding the racist comments reported after the game.
After the game at Goodison Park, Norwich chief executive David McNally announced the club will launch their own investigation into the comments.

It could have been many more for the hosts, with the woodwork and match officials conspiring against them.
Newcastle were offering little to suggest that Southampton would be made to pay for their inability to convert pressure into goals, with Pardew's side severely, and worryingly, lacking in spark.
The Saints then wrapped things up on the hour mark, with Tim Krul spilling a low cross from Jason Puncheon into the path of Ramirez to bundle home.
Southampton recorded back-to-back successes for the first time this season on Sunday, with a 2-0 victory over Newcastle enough to lift them out of the Premier League drop zone.

Fergie: Cow-loving Rooney should learn from Ruuds lack of judgment
Ferguson, while speaking to the press last night about Wayne Rooney:
I know hes talking about Rooney not finding a better club than Manchester United, but it sure as hell seems like hes telling Rooney off for cheating on Coleen with Jenny.
To be fair, he also talks about former Manchester United players questioning the club and being proven wrong.
Ruud van Nistelrooy famously left Manchester United in the summer of 2006 having doubted Uniteds ability to win titles, after which United went ahead and won three league titles in a row (along with a Champions League semifinal and two consecutive Champions League finals).
And plus, Coleen isnt a cow, is she?
